Just one more week!
I cannot believe we are only (roughly) one week out from Belle’s litter! Just one more! We couldn’t be more excited. She’s getting lots of extra love and she’s starting to root around in her whelping box where she’s been sleeping. Remember, genetic possibilities include the all 3(4) colors from this litter! The Polar White deviant of yellow is the 4th possibility, and in just one more week we will know for sure what color English Labrador Puppies we have! Manny and Belle should produce just gorgeous Labrador Puppies – English in style with big blocky heads and bodies, and a wonderful mix of playful and affectionate. We estimate pups…

A Well-Trained Labrador
Let me tell you, as the owner of more than a couple of dogs, that a well-trained dog is a joy unrivaled. Labradors are large and strong. Their famous and endearing “otter tails” can clean off a table top quicker than your hands can! Usually, the clanging, crashing, spilling sounds that accompany this “clearing” startle the Labrador just as much as the owner. (I often wonder if the Lab has any idea what their tail is doing, or if it is independent of its body in some way. At least independent of its consciousness.) This past December the AKC held their National Obedience Championships and the winner was a Labrador…

Labrador Puppies – worth the wait
We are just a hair over three short weeks away from our next Labrador retriever litter, and I cannot even tell you how eager we all are. Their little squeaks and faces and first barks and cuddles are SO worth the wait. The kids are tossing around themes to name the litter and we are disinfecting our whelping area. Tomorrow we are putting our Belle into quarantine from the other dogs. This will help protect her during this final stage of pregnancy. I know a lot of you are waiting for a new Labrador of your very own, and I know it’s hard to wait! A new litter of lab…

A Proper Labrador
Have you ever looked up what proper Labrador conformation is? It is a fascinating list of requirements. The Labrador retriever Club is pretty serious about our breed – and the requirements are stringent. (Does your labrador pass the test?) While there are numerous requirements and a list of traits to analyze for a dog, here are the ideal proportions for Labradors as presented by the American Kennel Club, and the Labrador parent club: The Labrador Retriever Club. We love labradors! Their silly dispositions, friendly faces and loyal and protective natures endear us to them. What’s funny, though, is that in our experience the AKC standards and other club standards don’t…

Pure Bred Labrador Retrievers
It just doesn’t get any better than that A healthy, beautiful lab puppy is not just a pet, it can be your best friend. Occasionally I hear back from our Kindred Pup families who update me on how their pups are doing and they send me pictures. They aren’t all still in Colorado, and a couple of them have added children or other pets or switched home in the process, but the love remains the same. I LOVE keeping in touch with our Labrador families, and I’m proud of what our program has produced. Just a few days ago I received an email from a family who often comes to…

The most beautiful Chocolate
I have been having a hard time describing to you just how beautiful Belle’s coloring is. It is dark, but rich, not ashy, and almost has a slight redness to it. It is truly the most beautiful coat I’ve seen from any chocolate labrador, anywhere. I think the Colorado labrador population is about to get even more beautiful. Her coat is also thick and warm and as soft as can be. Today though, on my hunt for a photo that would accurately describe her coat, we were able to finally get an image that will almost do it justice. Please ignore that this isn’t the best photo – I was…

Socialization is more important than we think
The life of a new puppy brings a new experience to them on a weekly basis. New sounds, new smells, new textures, new desires for play, pain, hunger, anxiety… all of these things need to be handled by a knowledgeable breeder who will take the time to get to know each pup and spend the time it requires to give them the attention they need. Whether you’re helping a puppy showing signs of aggression, or you are helping a puppy who is too timid, a good breeder will know what to do. Our goal at Kindred Pup is to do everything in our power to ensure that your puppy comes…

We canNOT wait for puppies!
Sorry it has been so long! As you can tell from our recent website update and social media posts, there has been a LOT going on here at Kindred Pup. We are thrilled that our Belle and stud Manny have had a successful mating! Assuming all goes well, that means puppies will arrive end of January and be ready to head home end of March! To all of you who have reached out in the recent days and weeks, thank you for your thoughtful questions! I’ve enjoyed chatting with all of you and I hope I’ve helped you decide whether or not a Kindred Pup puppy is the right decision…

The Last Days
This litter has been such a breeze, you guys. I just can’t believe how wonderful they’ve been – easy, relatively quiet, playful but not aggressive. If I had the room I may just have kept all of these pups! I have to tell you that we all shed a few tears when puppies head home. But there is something so beautiful about knowing that you have bred and raised beautiful, healthy puppies that are going to light up someone’s world. Until next time…

Puppy Inquiries
Hello everyone! Long-time-no-write! Sorry about my silence here. Truth is, COVID and quarantine and people being home bound have sent puppy inquiries through the roof and between answering what inquiries I can, caring for Molly and loving up the pups, I just have not had the time! I am thankful to say that all the pups in this litter have been spoken for, and I don’t anticipate any spots falling through. I do feel terrible for all the families looking for the perfect puppy who haven’t been able to find one. I know it’s crazy out there right now! All I can tell you is this: please be picky. There…
