What is the Kindred Pup difference?
If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then a video is worth 1,000,000 right? We put together this very hobbyist-level video of this past week to try to show you what our outdoor time consists of with our puppies. We really believe that on top of excellent genetic lines, the care and attention we give to our puppies is the Kindred Pup Difference. English Labrador retrievers are beautiful and wonderful pets, and we are so thankful to do what we do and to have learned what we’ve learned. You’ve heard me talk about the importance of confidence in a pup for their future life; well, here is a lot of…

Adrian’s Puppies – black and chocolate labradors
THE GIRLS We are always so grateful to do what we do – and Adrian’s black and chocolate labradors make us even more thankful for it. They are adorable in every way! Their personalities are just starting to show, but we see the buds of patterns and habits and it will be so fun to watch them come out of their shells. In the world of puppy raising, there are weeks that require more effort, clean up, training, time spent etc. and those weeks don’t allow as much time for pictures and blogging. I’m sorry I’m just now formally introducing you to Adrian’s litter, but I think it’s worth the…

9 week old puppy love!
This sweet girl, Layla, is one of Piper’s puppies and she has been staying with us this past week while her family is out of town, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Seeing as we usually send our pups home at 8 weeks old, a 9 week old Labrador is something we rarely see. And it is sweet as pie. Since we have her here, we’ve been spending some time practicing recall and she’s learning her name already! She is eager to please, happy to run and romp and happy to nap on your lap. In other words, a perfect puppy. It’s also SO fun to watch their instincts come…

Going home days – Labrador Puppies
What do the final days with a litter of Labrador puppies look like?! There are LOTS of puppy cuddles, and lots of puppy teaching sessions – from being up off the ground on a garden wall or being on an ottoman; loud noises; alone time; substitution training (focusing on chewing); crate time etc. Manding is the process of teaching a puppy to wait for you by sitting (as opposed to jumping) quietly (as opposed to barking/whining). You reward this behavior by offering praise or a treat (Labrador retrievers are highly food motivated, so small treats work fabulously for this) and you reinforce this behavior by ignoring them entirely until they…

Piper’s puppies are ready to head home!
As promised, here are some photos of our sweet Girls. I am so thrilled to have met all our Kindred Pup families over the past weeks and I’m happy to say I think we’ve found some wonderful people. Thank you all, again, for trusting us with your pups! Here’s some yummy photos of your beautiful girls! Miss Orange Miss Orange was not so sure about her height challenges. She took to it very cautiously and you could see the victory all over her face when she finally shut down her worry about it. This litter has the most gorgeous shade of chocolate in their coats! Way to go, Miss Orange!…
