    Getting Ready

Veterinary appointments. Scheduling breeding times. Chatting with people and families looking for their new puppy. Making sure that Molly gets that extra bit of attention she’s hungry for while in heat. This is what fills our days over here. As busy as it is preparing for a breeding and litter, I’ve been a little thankful for some distraction, given the state of the world. I’ll just say – I hope everyone of our Kindred Pup families are staying healthy and safe! We are SO THANKFUL at the interest we’ve received in this breeding. Thank you all! As of now, the first pick male spot is taken, and the first two…

    A Long Time Coming

Hello everyone! I am so sorry for the long silence. And what a crazy time it’s been. First of all, I hope that everyone reading this, and especially our Kindred Pup families have stayed healthy during this time. I hope you’ve enjoyed time with your pups, that your businesses are doing well and that you’ll find yourselves healthier and happier when life resumes than you were going into it. We have used our time well over here – plugging away with some extra school projects, and projects around the house; we’ve read A LOT; we’ve settled into our exercise routines and tried to eat healthier with more time to cook…

    Our New Pups

Oh, you guys. The pups are a week old now, can you believe it? I can’t. And what a week it has been! Just like Molly, their fur is SO SOFT already, and they all have a beautiful creamy color. All 5 pups are gaining weight, getting stronger and able to move themselves all about their whelping pen. The children and I have been reading (I should say re-reading) one of our favorite set of books and, because of that, decided to name the pups accordingly. Here, for your swoons and to make your heart beat a little quicker, are our sweet babes: These sweet pups are growing so fast…

    New Puppies Soon to Arrive!

Just for a reminder of these beauties, let’s look again at Molly and Bronxx’s previous litter. Everyone all warm and fuzzy?? Me too. Now we can begin. Hi everyone! I am SO sorry for my absence as of late. We caught some sort of awful bug (maybe the flu??) right before Christmas and feel like we are just peeking our heads out of our nests over here! I am so thankful that we got that over with before sweet little furry pups arrive! Molly’s expected due date is on/around January 18th. We can’t wait! More information will follow next week as Molly has an appointment with the vet on Tuesday.…

    “IT is time”

Our sweet Molly looks as if nature has begun to take its course! Molly’s heat has begun, and now it’s just a countdown until the sweet chirps and squeaks of little pups! We will be bringing her down for her “date” with Karen at Heatherdowns Labradors in about two weeks! We could NOT be happier. We are excited to see if she will prefer Manny or Bronxx this time; any guesses? Here is a Molly/Bronxx pup: Here’s a Molly/Manny pup: We are so impressed by Molly’s pup’s beauty, intelligence and affectionate personality. We cannot wait to see another beautiful litter, whichever of the boys she chooses. Also, very, very soon…

A chill in the air & signs on the breeze

Seriously…. just wow. Molly has some gorgeous puppies. The breeze just feels different in Colorado these past few days, doesn’t it? Of course those first bites of winter don’t hinder our Molly at all. She LOVES it cold. She sits in the backyard, almost smiling at the sky, defiantly welcoming what her formerly-anti-winter Mama dreads each year – months of brrrrrr. I dread it less each year. To be sure. But still. Cold is best felt in an evening on the beach, with cool salt water still running through your very soul. THAT is a “good” cold. Anyway, these yearly arguments happen around Kindred Pup every year, despite my having…

    End of Summer

I am sure that I’m not the only one reflecting on my favorite summer moments this weekend. The warm (ok, blazing hot) days, fun with the hose and sprinkler and water and rivers, raising sweet puppies, playing lawn games… it’s been a wonderful three months. And now I’m ready for Fall. Fall is my favorite time of year. Actually, it seems it’s everyone’s favorite time of year. And with good reason! But before we move on to sweaters and cider and knitting, I wanted to share a few of my favorite pictures of Molly from the past couple of weeks. Lots of people ask me, how is Molly after puppies…

    Training and Treats

The Kindred Pups have reached the 7 week old mark, can you believe it?! The 7 week mark means: more energy and longer “play times” eating more food, and nursing less Recall training in full swing longer times in crate heading home this weekend I know a few of you have asked me about treats and training and, like most things these days, there are a lot of conflicting opinions on what treats are suitable for puppies. I’ve included a link from the AKC on treats as I believe they are a reputable source. One of the main things to watch for is all those added calories treats can bring,…

    Visits Are Done!

If you asked any loving breeder what the hardest part of this process is, I am guessing they would all answer as we do: sending the puppies home. It is a sad, and often tearful goodbye. My youngest kiddos slept with the collars of their favorite pups on their wrists for a while, and still have them in their “keepsake boxes”. That part of the process only starts to sink in right around week 5, when you’re absolutely in love with them but they look like “real” puppies that can head home soon. Thankfully, week 6 brings puppy visits with our Kindred Pup families. They drive here from all over…
